Shree Swami Samarth Maharaj Temple in Akkalkot is one of the most revered spiritual destinations in Maharashtra. Devotees from across India visit this sacred place to seek the blessings of Shree Swami Samarth Maharaj. Knowing the temple's daily schedule, aarti timings, and visitor guidelines will help you plan a peaceful and fulfilling darshan. This guide is based on the latest published 2026 timings.

    Daily Darshan Timings (2026)

The temple operates in two daily sessions with a midday break. General darshan and food services are completely free -- charges apply only for accommodation or special pooja services.

    • Morning darshan: 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    • Afternoon break: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM (mandir closed)
    • Evening darshan: 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Note: Timings may vary slightly on festival days. On Gurupurnima (July 29, 2026), Ram Navami (March 26, 2026), and Datta Jayanti (December 23, 2026), the temple may stay open round-the-clock or extend its hours.

    Daily Aarti & Pooja Schedule

The mandir follows a strict spiritual schedule each day. Knowing the aarti timings helps you plan your visit to coincide with the most spiritually significant moments:

    • 5:00 AM - Kakad Aarti (sharp). The day begins with this morning aarti, creating a peaceful and divine atmosphere as the deity is awakened.
    • 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM - Abhishek Pooja. The sacred ritual of bathing the deity is performed during this period. Devotees can sponsor or witness the abhishek.
    • 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM - Laghu Rudra Pooja. A special chanting and offering ceremony performed within the abhishek window.
    • 12:00 PM - Maha Naivedya Aarti. A grand food offering is made to the deity, marking the midday peak of devotional activity. After this, the mandir closes for the afternoon break.
    • 4:00 PM - Mandir reopens for evening darshan.
    • 8:00 PM - 8:45 PM - Shej Aarti. The final ritual of the day, when the deity is symbolically put to rest. Highly recommended for the spiritual ambiance.

    Mahaprasad / Annadaan Timings

Free mahaprasad (sattvic vegetarian meals) is served daily at the Annachhatra by the Shri Swami Samarth Annachhatra Mandal:

    • Lunch session: 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM
    • Dinner session: 9:00 PM - 11:00 PM

    Best Time for Darshan

    Early Morning (5:00 AM - 8:00 AM) -- Recommended

The most peaceful time. The Kakad Aarti at 5:00 AM is especially auspicious, and the cool morning air makes waiting in line comfortable. The mandir officially opens for general darshan at 6:00 AM. Reaching by 5:30-6:00 AM puts you near the front of the queue. This is the ideal slot for first-time visitors and elderly pilgrims.

    Late Morning (10:00 AM - 11:30 AM)

Moderate crowds. You can experience the abhishek pooja, then participate in the mahaprasad lunch session immediately after darshan -- a complete spiritual experience in one visit. Good option if you don't want to wake up at 4 AM.

    Late Evening (7:00 PM - 8:45 PM)

Highly recommended for the spiritual ambiance. The evening darshan ends with the Shej Aarti at 8:00 PM, which has a beautiful, calm post-dinner atmosphere with bhajan-kirtan and diyas. Crowds reduce after 7:30 PM.

    Times to Avoid

Saturdays, Sundays, and the days around major festivals see the heaviest crowds. The 12 PM - 4 PM period is closed to the public. If you have flexibility, weekday mornings (Tuesday-Thursday) are the most peaceful for darshan.

    Dress Code

While there is no strict dress code enforced, devotees are expected to dress modestly out of respect for the sacred space:

    • Recommended: Traditional Indian wear -- saree, salwar kameez, dhoti, kurta-pyjama. White or light colors are preferred.
    • Acceptable: Modest western clothing that covers shoulders and knees.
    • Avoid: Shorts, sleeveless tops, revealing clothing, leather items, and footwear inside the sanctum.

    Photography Rules

Photography is generally not allowed inside the inner sanctum and main prayer hall. You may take photos in the outer courtyard and from designated spots. Carrying mobile phones inside the sanctum is permitted but should be on silent mode. Do not record videos of the deities or aarti without explicit permission from the trust.

    Special Pooja Booking

The mandir trust allows devotees to book special poojas, including:

    • Abhishek pooja sponsorship: ₹501 - ₹2,100 depending on the type
    • Maha-aarti sponsorship: ₹1,100 - ₹5,100
    • Annadaan sponsorship: ₹2,500 - ₹35,000+ (feeds 50 to 500+ devotees)
    • Anushthan / chanting: ₹1,001 - ₹5,001

Bookings can be made at the trust office located inside the mandir complex. For festival days, book at least 2-3 weeks in advance. Carry the receipt and a valid ID for entry to special pooja areas. Visit swamiannacchatra.org for online annadaan sponsorship.

    What to Carry for Darshan

    • Aadhaar card or any government photo ID
    • Cash for donation (any amount, no minimum)
    • Coconut, flowers, and prasad items (sold at shops outside the mandir)
    • A small bag for footwear (footwear must be removed before entering)
    • Water bottle (especially in summer months)
    • Hand sanitizer and a small towel

    Facilities at the Mandir

The mandir trust provides several facilities for pilgrims:

    • Cloak room: Free locker facility for bags and footwear
    • Drinking water: RO water stations throughout the premises
    • Wheelchair access: Available for elderly and differently-abled pilgrims
    • First aid: A small medical room with basic supplies
    • Parking: Limited parking near the mandir; large vehicles park at designated lots
    • Annachhatra (free meals): Twice daily serving lunch and dinner
    • Vatavruksha (sacred banyan tree): The tree where Swami Samarth meditated, accessible to all pilgrims

    Tips to Avoid Long Queues

    1. Visit on weekdays. Tuesday through Thursday have noticeably shorter queues than weekends.
    2. Arrive before 6 AM. Reaching the mandir by 5:30 AM puts you in the front of the queue when general darshan opens at 6:00 AM.
    3. Avoid major festival dates. If you cannot avoid festival days, plan for 4-6 hour waits.
    4. Stay near the temple. Walking distance accommodation lets you make multiple darshan attempts on the same day -- e.g., 6 AM morning + 7 PM evening.
    5. Use the morning slot. Morning queues move faster than evening ones.
    6. Plan around the 12-4 PM break. The mandir is closed during these hours, so use this time for rest, mahaprasad, or sightseeing.
